Kumarakom: Life on a Houseboat

We lived on a houseboat for an evening with the bride and her family. When we boarded, we found out that they don’t serve beer (which was apparently a problem for everyone, but Annie).  Later on, one of the guys approached Adam and asked if he would pay them to get beer. Obviously he said yes. We spent the entire afternoon and evening playing Hearts. No one goes swimming on the lake and it was hot.  The lake is filled with some sort of vegetation on the surface, but undeniably beautiful.  We cruised past some unique fishing nets established by the local fisherman. They’ve adopted a Chinese method for catching prawns, which includes a counterweight and large nets.
